April 26 (2008) --Spring Fling-- This is a 10 to 68 mile ride organized by the Great Plains Bicycling Club in Lincoln, NE. $25 Individual, ($20 early registration) $50 family ($40 early registration). For more info: Visit GPBC website.
May 17 (2008) --Oak Creek Valley Bike Ride. Starts in Valparaiso, Nebraska...Choose from 24, 31, 39, 44, 46 or 70-mile routes of Nebraska highways, or the stretches of natural prairie on the Oak Creek Trail. Visit their website.
May 17 (2008) --Spoke & Hub Century. The Bellevue Bike Club century is based on the idea of a wheel having a hub in the middle and spokes that branch out in various directions. In this ride, the cyclist has the option of riding in one of 4 directions from the hub. This allows the group of approximately 250 riders to travel in many various directions instead of one massive group all heading the same direction at the same time. May 24-26 (2008)--Memorial Day Tour. Lincoln to Nebraska City on Saturday and check into Lied Lodge, where we will stay for two nights. On Sunday, ride to historic Brownville, either on the Steamboat Trace or along the bluffs highway in Iowa, and return to Nebraska City. On Monday, return to Lincoln. This is a credit card tour-you pay for your room & food and carry your own clothes. Rooms are filling up fast so contact Pat ASAP at: patrick_grewe@windstream.net (camping is also an option but you must carry your own gear.)
May 31 (2008)--Pedals & Power Poker Run. Meets at the Wabash Trail Head. Regsistration 9:00 to 10:30-- ride starts at 10:30. For details check out their website.
June 08-14 (2008)--BRAN-- Bike Ride Across Nebraska. Week long event in NE! Visit their website.
June 18-22 (2008)--Tour de Nebraska. Sagged bicycle tour that begins and ends near Lincoln. Visit their website.
June 28-July 2 (2008)--NUMB Ride. $45. Bike Ride for Hunger. Limited to 135 riders, so register early. Visit their website.
June 29 (2008)--Mollie's Mighty Riders-- Ride to Cure Diabetes-- Poker run. 40 mile bicycle course. Registration 9 a.m. 14th & Burlington, Hastings NE.
July 5 (2008) --Bike to Boyer. Family Fun Ride and 26, 46 or 66 mile routes. T-shirt & pancake breakfast also. BBC will be participating in this local ride through Ponca & Washington County. Check out the website for details.
July 12&13 (2008) --MS150--Two day ride event (100 possible miles per day). Cost of event is $50. The MS team is now forming, contact Matt (team captain) for details. July 17-20 (2008) --Green Trails Cycling Classic. A unique family-oriented ride allows you to design a ride tailored to your skill level and interests. Support, camping, and mini-events are featured for up to 4 days of cycling fun on trails or roads. August 1-4 (2008) --Nebraska Tour Group Ride. Free...open to the public. Louisville to Branched Oak for he 1st night; then ride to Stagecoach Rec. The first weekend in August, Ponca celebrates "Nifty Fifties". Starts
with a barbeque and concert on Thursday night; a teen dance on Friday; Pedal
Ponca bike ride, family games, Car Show, and a street dance finish it up on
Saturday.
August 2 (2008) --Wear Yellow Ride. Fundraiser bike ride and raffle along with the pancake man. This is the 5th annual bike ride beginning at Hayworth Park in Bellevue. Sept 13 (2008) --Spokes4Folks. 13, 26, 40 and 66 miles. Terrain: Gentle grades except for a portion on the 40/66 mile ride. Individual: $20 Advanced/$25 Day of Ride : Team (4): $60 Advanced/$80 Day of Ride. This includes a T-Shirt and the Pancake Breakfast and one raffle ticket. Sept 27 (2008) --Okoboji Oktoberfest Ride. 25 or 50 miles around beautiful Lake Okoboji. Arrowhead Resort, Okoboji, IA. You get a colorful shirt, German sampler plate (this is awesome), use of athletic club, and great live music after the ride. Cost $20 before 9/20, $25 after that. Visit the website.
Sept 28 (2008) --Wish Ride --Percival, IA. Contact: Ron Osovski, Phone (402)873-7607. The Wish Ride is a charity ride to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. It is not a pledge ride, but has still earned over $80,000 since it was started in 1987. Each year almost 400 riders, ride the quiet roads of SE Iowa enjoying the bright red and yellow fall colors. Apples, cider, lemonade, and home-made cookies are provided at numerous rest stops. 63 miles of flood plain @ river bluffs.
