This year the annual 2-day NE MS Bike Tour will be held on Sat & Sun, July 12 & 13. This year will be a banner year as NE MS Chapter is celebrating its 50th anniversary! In honor of this they are bringing this incredible event back to Omaha! This years inaugural ride “From the Riverbank to the State Capitol Steps” route will take riders from N. Omaha to Lincoln. Team NOBBY has registered the most riders and raised the most funds for the last 3 consecutive Bike Tour’s and this year will be no exception! Come ride with a team that is making a major impact on the incredible annual NE MS Bike Tour’s!
Event Details:
Each year this event is well organized, has great prizes, incredible food and friendly volunteers to ensure the safety & fun for all who ride. It is considered by most avid cyclists to be the premier 2-day event of Nebraska & Iowa! The event route is almost finalized and will start in N. Omaha and take riders to the campus of UNL where we will spend the night in dorms. The route will be approximately 80 miles long but there will also be a century option for the avid cyclist looking for one! There will be 7 fully staffed “watering holes” approx every 10 miles along the route that have refreshments & light snacks. The ever faithful Belleview Ham Radio Operators, Bike Rack & Olympia Cycling all from Omaha as well as a few other shops & groups from Lincoln will provide full SAG support for all riders this year. Medical personnel will also be available both days in case the need arises. The idea is to have a great time, ride at your own pace (whatever distance your choose to go) & raise some badly needed $ to help fund support for Nebraska and western Iowa individuals and families who fight this debilitating disease. NatureWorks LLC (a Cargill-Teijin Co.) has been the primary sponsor of Team NOBBY the last 7 years and we have many other team sponsors as well. This year we are again collaborating with the Blair Bike Club, opening the team to riders from other Blair Cargill plants as well as recruiting riders from the surrounding Blair & Omaha communities.There will be routes set up to accommodate riders of ALL ages, experience and abilities!
You can ride from 0-200+ miles in two days- the choice is yours! There will be children age 12 and older riding, older folks in their 80’s, men, women, etc… Some are avid cyclists while still others have only recently begun riding. Some will ride a short distance & catch one of the many SAG Support Vehicles to UNL in Lincoln & wait for others to complete their ride. You will be totally surprised at how far you can actually pedal that bike of yours! You will totally blow your expectations of how far you thought you could ride…..CLEAR OUT OF THE WATER! What an awesome personal accomplishment on top of all the cool things you are doing for the MS cause!

Ø Omaha Steak’s BBQ for lunch Sat in Lincoln w/all the trimmings
Ø Sat night: awesome pasta dinner w/all the trimmings at UNL campus
Ø Sat night: Overnight accommodations will be at Willa Cather Hall at the UNL-Lincoln Campus. ($21 if you buddy up or $37 for private room)
Ø Sat night: evening program with recognition, awards, surprise (and very notable) guest speaker and all the fun you can handle with Fat Tire Brews provided by event sponsor New Belgium Brewery.
Ø Sat night: music & entertainment
Ø Sun morn: full breakfast buffet provided
Ø Sun: lunch provided by MS Sponsor Runza
Ø Riders can earn prizes based on personal pledge‘s raised- up to a paid trip to attend the annual National MS Bike Tour of Champions in 2009. This year’s event was held in Hawaii!
