When was the club created?  The club was formed October of 2005, by Carole Becic, Dave Nannen, Jerry Wilke & Trudy Woksa.

How are officials elected?  Every January there will be an annual meeting asking for volunteers to be on the board, these board members elect officials as needed.  For 2006 we have five board members (see the contact info page for more on specific board members).

What are club rides like?  We have family/recreational rides, which are short rides on the Blair Trails or away rides visiting trails like the Boyer Chute Trail.  These are relaxed slow paced rides for families with children.  Some of these will include social events like picnics etc.  The adult rides are more geared for advanced riders and will include rides of twenty plus miles.  Although young adults with some experience are certainly welcome.  Any rides over fifty miles will include a lunch stop.  All of these rides will be posted periodically on the scheduled rides page.

Can I keep up with the group of an advanced ride?  The Blair Bike Club is NOT a racing club.  Most of the advanced rides are anywhere from 12 to 16 MPH.  However if you are concerned that you cannot keep up, we regroup every few miles and stop at all turns.

Do I need to be a member to ride with the club?  We certainly encourage membership, as it helps with our club expenses, but is certainly not required.  We especially encourage you to ride a couple of rides to see if it reaches your expectations of what a bicycle club should be.  An advantage to being a member is the email notices that non-members are not privy to (and don't forget the secret hand shake).  These emails include rides that are not posted for one reason or another and invitations to non ride events, etc.  Non-members are required to sign a liability waiver form, please notify ahead of time that you are attending a ride by emailing blairbikeclub@yahoo.com.

How do I join the Club?  Go to the membership form web page and copy the form.  Fill out and sign and mail with your check written to Blair Bike Club to the address at the bottom of page 2.  Your name will be added to our email list.  BBC membership costs are:  $10 Individual, $15 Family per year.

What are the responsibilities of members?  There are no responsibilities for members.  You do not have to attend every ride, or any number of rides.  The rides are available to you when you desire to ride.  Members are required to wear certified bicycle helmets and follow traffic laws.

If you have a question that is not answered on this page, please contact one of the board members and we will be happy to find an answer to your question.
